Dear Kid,

The world is going to be a better place today than it was yesterday.

Yesterday wasn’t a bad day; in fact, I think was a pretty good day.

But today is going to be even better. Because it’s today.

And tomorrow will be even better. In point of fact, I know that tomorrow will be better than today because you are coming home.

For me, that means tomorrow is going to be a great day (I hope it does for you too).

There are people who don’t necessarily believe that each day can be better than the previous one. But I do. At least generally.

I know there are days that are not great. I know we get bad news, or have to leave friends, or return from wonderful vacations. I know people get sick and sometimes die. And I know all those things are difficult and sad. But I know that time helps.

I believe that most days are filled with more good than bad.

I believe that the good in each day tends to outshine the bad.

Hope today is a good day for you and that tomorrow is even better.
